Introduction to my Sophomore Year Journey

I feel like I’ve learned a lot of things through my sophomore year, even though it seemed rough and I didn’t think it would be like last year, I still wanted to try it and see if I learn any new experiences.

I have many things to explain about my sophomore year and the things we have done in InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects, Web Discovery Friday/Certificate Thursday, working on our logos, resumes, and many other things that we have worked on to help us into the field of Web Development. I’m happy and also excited to talk about the many things that I’ve learned throughout this year of web development

The Foundations and Skills I learned through my Sophomore Year

I’ve learned the different topics throughout my Sophomore Year, like how to use JavaScript, and while I don’t have a good concept of it, I know the basic things to help me build site or other projects that can be crafted using JavaScript. WordPress is another site that I’ll ALWAYS try to use for my website, because it allows you to use different sources, pages, and building blocks to help promote the site that you’re looking for. Another skill that I’ve also learned is how to apply effects to logos/pictures to result into cool animation styles and transition to help build up your site.

The Project/Assignment that stood out to me

I felt like the logo assignment where we could make our own logo, make variations, color template, and typography really stood out to me in a way, because it allows ourselves to put creativity into our mindset and allows us to think of a compatible design/logo that could spark the user inside the site.

Speaking of typography, another project I felt that stood out to me in a way during my Sophomore Year was the Typography. I felt like just like the Logo Project, we got to create letters and numbers in a type of font and style that we liked and felt that other people would enjoy it, you could even use the tools inside of Illustrator that changes up the Typography a bit

The Challenges I came across and how I got over them

I had trouble with SO, SO many of the project that I can’t even count how many times I was SUPER lost. I was so confuse on the Logo Project, because I had the idea and the concept down I just needed to know how to make it into Illustrator and how it would look on there.

I didn’t know what to do, but once I got down to my variations some of classmates (and my teacher) gave me ideas on how I should make my Logo and my teacher gave me a little sketch on what it should look like, so I remolded it and drew it on Illustrator. I was very happy with it, this isn’t bad though as the time I was working with WordPress.

I was SO confused with WordPress that I genuinely didn’t know how to use it, even though my teacher explained to me in a simple way, I still didn’t understand it and I had a hard time with it and that’s also why my website looks like absolute garbage!

But when it came to the final project for the gala, I was able to go into WordPress and understand it more better and clear, and I understand what some of the tools and how the template were used along with the pages of the website. So, I feel like I’ve had a VERY BIG monumental step going from the first time I went into WordPress to now, I would talk about more problems I faced with other project, but we’d be hear all day!

The progress I’ve made throughout my Sophomore Year and the goals have set for the future

From learning how to make the perfect logo, to making my own typography, to making my own SQL voting database, to learning about cybersecurity and the different cautions and procedure to make sure you have a safe experience online. I’ve learned and been able to achieve the different web development projects and information throughout my sophomore year, I’m hoping to learn even more things going into junior and senior year as well as being able to use these skills to further my career into being a Graphic Designer.

Conclusion

I’ve said it SO many time, but I’ve learned so many things that have helped me throughout the whole Web Development process. From developing my skills in JavaScript, WordPress, animation/design, and even more to arriving on many challenging assignments and being able to overcome those challenges to then be able to branch new ideas and go forward with the project.

I would like to thank EVERYONE in my web class, not only for helping and assisting me in certain things, but making this Sophomore experience a grand of a life time. I would also like to thank Mr. Choate for helping throughout these assignment and supporting my ideas and be creative with it.

I love Web Development & Design and I’m willing to learn many things to help me expand my knowledge of knowing the content and design of building a site, as well as focusing on building up the career of Graphic Design (the design parts of Web will DEFINITELY help with building to becoming a Graphic Designer).
