Introduction

Third time the charm as they say and I didn’t believe you’d come back a third time to read another topic on my blog. Well then, welcome back to the blog and today’s episode (what am I talking about, this isn’t a show) we’re going to be talking about something related with helping your SEO up and that is: Search Engine Result Page or SERP (for short). We’ll look at what if is, how it can help boost your SEO as well as website to become the top rich results, and some data and statistics that show how that can drastically improve websites as well as what type of SERP features can help with your website. So, wait, since it’s the third blog, I’ll let you take it away and do the honors , my friend.

What is SERP?

SERP is acronym for Search Engine Result Page and they’re web pages served to users when they search for specific information online using a search engine, such as Google. The user enters their search query (often using specific terms and phrases known as keywords) then the search engine presents them with a SERP. These are the most relevant, high quality results, including organic pages and sponsored ads, related to the search query. So whenever you want your website to be the top search result, make sure to follow the right steps and procedures to having a good SERP.

Thus is an example of what a SERP is (funny, right?)

Here’s a video if you need a better understanding on SERP:

What is a rich result and schema(or structured data)?

You might think that a rich result is a search result that’s worth million or billions of dollars, but you’d be wrong. A rich result is an enhanced result displayed on Google’s SERP that can be achieved by implementing the appropriate structured data (also known as Schema Markup which we’ll talk about in a little bit). When rich results are implemented within a website, it gives off a lot of good information about the company like reviews, ratings, pricing, job locations, and more; with this it’s able to reach other users and audiences that haven’t heard about the business before. Schema markup, also known as structured data, is the language the search engine uses to read your type of content, the language (the code) helps search engines and categorize the content of webpages.

What are best features to use on your website to build your SERP?

There are many different things/features you can use on your website to help boost it to be a rich result, so that when a user looks up a certain topic and sees yours, they’ll be presented with the necessary information and detail that they need. Some of these features need on your website to boost your SERP:

  1. Featured Snippets – Featured snippets directly give you information or explanation on what the certain topic is about and can lead you to the website about it.

2. AI Overviews – AI Overviews are short, AI-generated summaries that are pulled from the top-ranking pages that rank at the top of the SERP above each other result.

3. Popular Products – Popular products show products related to a user’s search query when relevant and include images, prices, ratings, and links to the corresponding products pages.

4. Local Pack – The local pack (or map pack) is a set of business listings that appears for search queries with local intent, meaning that users are trying to find nearby products, services, or amenities; and is usually at the top of the SERP.

5. People Also Ask Boxes – People also ask boxes displays a list of questions related to the initial topic and quick, short answers as well as link to the source. This allows people to explore rather than needing to do additional searches.
